** This is a repost from last year with this year’s dates: June 12 – 16 **
If you have a train-loving kid at home, you can’t miss this event. I don’t know what it is about Thomas the Train, but a lot – I mean A LOT – of kids love Thomas. My house is littered with train gear; somehow it managed to seep into my home one boxcar after the next. We even have a train running behind our house (I could do without that train though). For the past 2 years, we have been able to bring a giddy child to see a huge Thomas in Green Bay. The June dates are sneaking up on us again – the ever-popular A Day Out with Thomas is coming to the National Railroad Museum from June 12-16 in Green Bay.
Some of you have seasoned this event in the past and are well aware of the operation, while some of you may be newbies to this event. This is a huge event and is well-attended. The event includes a 25 minute ride with a full size Thomas the Tank Engine, an opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, story-telling, live music and many indoor crafts/activities. The rides run from 9:15-4:45; you must purchase a ticket for a predetermined ride time (it runs every 45 minutes).
Order your tickets before June 1 and receive $2 off each ticket purchased (tickets are $18 for ages 2 and up). Advance purchase is recommended as this is a popular event. All ticket sales are final and events are rain or shine. Tickets are valid for the date/time printed on the ticket only. This can be expensive event for an entire family. We have usually taken one kid at a time with one adult to minimize cost. Although the event is open to all ages, I recommend going when your child can truly appreciate and partake in many of the crafts/activities to make it worth the time and money.
The National Railroad Museum is located at 2285 S. Broadway St. in Green Bay. Click here to go to the website to find additional information and to purchase tickets.
